เชื่อว่าหลายๆท่านที่ได้ทำการจัดฟัน จะทราบดีถึงปัญหาต่างๆมากมานที่อาจจะเกิดขึ้นได้ในระหว่างจัดฟัน แต่ไม่ทราบถึงวิธีในการรับมือและแก้ปัญหาต่างๆเฉพาะหน้า
ซึ่งต้องขอบอกก่อนเลยว่า การรักษาด้วยการจัดฟันนั้นถือว่ามีข้อดีมากมาย แต่ก็ใช่ว่าในขณะจัดฟันจะไม่มีปัญหาให้กวนใจเลยก็ไม่ใช่

ปัญหาที่มักเกิดขึ้นได้ในขณะจัดฟัน ?
– พูดไม่ชัด น้ำลายหก
ถือว่าเป็นปัญหาที่พบกันบ่อย ในช่วงแรกที่ใส่อุปกรณ์จัดฟัน ผู้ป่วยจะมีอาการพูดไม่ชัด และน้ำลายไหลโดยที่ไม่รู้ตัว เนื่องจากว่ายังไม่เคยชินกับอุปกรณ์จัดฟัน รวมถึงอุปกรณ์ต่างๆก็มีผลในการขัดขวางการพูด ทำเกิดการออกเสียงที่ไม่ชัด แต่ไม่ต้องตกใจเพราะอาการเหล่านี้จะค่อยๆหายไปหลังจากการปรับตัวของร่างกาย ซึ่งระยะเวลาในการปรับตัวของแต่ละคนนั้นจะไม่เท่ากัน แต่โดยปกติจะใช้เวลาในการปรับตัวประมาณ 2-4 สัปดาห์ ดังนั้นผู้ป่วยที่ทำการจัดฟันใหม่ๆไม่ต้องกังวลใจ ให้พยายามจิบน้ำบ่อยๆ เพื่อไม่ให้ปากแห้ง ช่วยลดการเสียดสีและแผลในช่องปาก จะทำให้การปรับตัวง่ายขึ้น
– มีกลิ่นปาก
ปัญหากลิ่นปากส่วนใหญ่จะเกิดจากการที่มีเศษอาหารเข้าไปติดตามซอกฟัน หรือในช่องปาก ยิ่งถ้าใส่อุปกรณ์จัดฟันใหม่ๆ ยิ่งจะทำให้เศษอาหารเข้าไปตกค้างได้ง่ายขึ้นกว่าปกติ รวมถึงทำความสะอาดได้ยากมากขึ้นอีกด้วย ดังนั้นเมื่อได้ทำการใส่อุปกรณ์จัดฟันมาแล้ว ต้องพยายามดูแลรักษาความสะอาดช่องปากให้มากกว่าปกติ พยายามแปรงฟันทุกครั้งหลังรับประทานอาหาร 1 ชั่วโมง และแปรงฟันตื่นนอนกับก่อนนอนตามปกติ ถ้าเป็นไปได้ควรใช้ไหมขัดฟันที่ออกแบบมาสำหรับคนจัดฟันอีกด้วย นอกจากแปรงฟันเสร็จแล้วให้แปรงลิ้นทุกครั้ง เพราะ ลิ้นเป็นแหล่งสะสมจุลินทรีย์ที่มากที่สุด เพียงเท่านี้ก็สามารถลดเรื่องกลิ่นปากได้แล้วบางส่วน
– กลืนอุปกรณ์จัดฟัน ทำอย่างไร
ในบางครั้งอุปกรณ์จัดฟันก็อาจจะหลุดออก เช่น ยางจัดฟัน แบร็คเก็ต ซึ่งมีหลายท่านเคยพลาดกลืนอุปกรณ์เหล่านี้เข้าไป แต่ขอบอกเลยว่าอย่างเป็นกังวลใจไป เนื่องจากว่าวัสดุที่ใช้ในการทำอุปกรณ์จัดฟันนั้นสร้างจากวัสดุที่ไม่เป็นพิษต่อร่างกาย ซึ่งหากว่าผู้ป่วยกลืนอุปกรณ์เข้าไปร่างกายจะกำจัดออกมาด้วยการขับถ่ายตามปกติ แต่ถึงอย่างไรก็ตามเป็นไปได้ก็ไม่ควรกลืนเข้าไป โดยทันตแพทย์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญจะแนะนำอยู่เสมอว่า พยายามอย่ารับประทานอาหารที่มีความแข็ง เพราะ จะทำให้อุปกรณ์จัดฟันหลุดได้ง่าย และจะมีผลต่อการรักษาได้
– เหล็กจัดฟันหลุดทำอย่างไร
มีหลายๆท่านประสบปัญหาเหล็กจัดฟันหลุดแต่ไม่รู้จะทำอย่างไรดี ขอแนะนำเบื้องต้นว่า หากสามารถไปพบทันตแพทย์ได้ก็แนะนำให้ไปเพื่อทำการแก้ไขไม่ต้องรอให้ถึงวันนัด เพราะการที่เหล็กจัดฟันหลุดบ่อยๆมีผลกับการรักษาโดยตรง และบางทีอาจจะทำให้เกิดบาดแผลจากการถูกอุปกรณ์จัดฟันทิ่มได้อีกด้วย ทางที่ดีที่สุดควรหลีกเลี่ยงการรับประทานอาหารที่มีความเสี่ยง เช่น อาหารที่มีความแข็ง ถั่ว ผลไม้ดิบ เป็นต้น และไม่ควรแปรงฟันแรงเกินไป
– ลวดทิ่มแก้มและเหงือก
การที่ลวดทิ่มแก้มหรือเหงือกนั้นเกิดจากการที่ลวดยื่นออกมา ซึ่งหากว่ายื่นออกมาไม่มากนักให้ทำการใช้ขี้ผึ้งที่ทันตแพทย์ให้ไว้ปั้นเป็นก้อนๆและแปะทับตรงส่วนที่ยื่นออกมา แต่ถ้าหากว่าลวดยื่นออกมามาก ให้ทำการไปพบทันแพทย์เพื่อทำการแก้ไขโดยด่วน
– สามารถจัดฟันบนหรือล่างอย่างเดียวได้ไหม
ในกรณีต้องการจัดฟันเพื่อแก้ไขฟันที่ผิดปกติเพียงไม่กี่ซี่ จะสามารถทำการจัดฟันแค่ด้านบน หรือด้านล่างอย่างเดียวได้ แต่ตามปกติแล้วจะแนะนำให้จัดทั้งบนและล่างเพื่อให้การสบฟันดีขึ้น จะส่งผลให้ระบบการบดเคี้ยวอาหารดีขึ้น ลดปัญหาฟันสึก ประสาทฟันอักเสบ รวมไปถึงสามารถช่วยลดโอกาสเสี่ยงเกี่ยวกับกระดูกข้อต่อขากรรไกรอีกด้วย
